Reasons We Do Not Directly Accept Insurance...
A question we sometimes get from prospective patients:
“Do you accept insurance?”
We understand why people want to know…they’ve already spent money on the insurance & don’t want any additional out of pocket expenses because premiums are high!
No doctor actually “accepts” your insurance. They only provide the service of filing the claim FOR YOU. You still pay your co-pay, & any money that insurance did not cover is your responsibility to pay. The doctor acts as the middle man.
Here’s the catch. Insurance companies are much nicer to their customer than they are to providers. They give us more hoops to jump through, delay payment, pay very little of the bill, & often downright deny the claim for nonsensical reasons. If the doctor wants to make any money, they must then send the bill back to you.
Most doctors hire staff to do all of this, which adds more to their overhead expenses (administrative & insurance specialist staff), further raising service prices to compensate for that cost.
In addition, when doctors depend on insurance, they may (not always) change their treatment methods in order to be reimbursed at a better rate. So, the insurance company is ultimately dictating what treatment is best for the patient. Not the doctor.
So instead of putting us & our patients through all of that mess, it’s simple:
You pay for the services received at our office & you send a detailed receipt (that we can provide at the end of each month) directly to your insurance. Your insurance will reimburse you directly.
We get to spend more time with you, providing the treatment that we believe to be best for you.
We are able to charge less because we don’t have the expenses that go along with the insurance hassle. (and our fees may even be less, on-par, or only dollars higher than your co-pay anyway)
We GLADLY accept HSA (Health Savings Account) & FSA (Flexible Spending Account) debit cards for payment of services!!
